Molly Pitcher Inn

We checked out early after a deeply embarrassing experience in the lobby. I came back with an ice bucket after learning the machines were broken, and found Sue (Susan G) badmouthing us to a coworker. When I spoke up, she got defensive, thinking I planned to report her, though I was only asking for ice. Then she pointed and yelled, demanding my name and room number and saying she’d report me for being vulgar and cussing. I repeatedly asked her to stop yelling and step away, and said I’d speak with another manager, but she refused and called herself the manager. A colleague finally stepped in and discussed it with us. He apologized for her behavior, but the damage was done. We were accused of language we hadn’t used and yelled at in front of our colleagues. The trouble had started at breakfast, where the staff seemed overwhelmed serving 10-15 tables while we were snowed in. They weren’t rushed, yet the host put his finger on the rim of the water pitcher he was bringing to fill glasses. The food was cold, and my meal was taken away without anyone asking if I was finished. Sue was rude and disrespectful to my colleague, laughed at them, and asked, “what is your problem” when he said she was rude. She said he was “talking too much” because he didn’t appreciate her yelling across the dining room about our table and was annoyed she had to split the checks. I asked her to walk away, which made her irate. She condescendingly wished us “a great day” and kept making snarky comments.

The staff treated us like family, from the people opening doors to the front desk, the bar and dining room servers, and housekeeping. Everyone was kind, respectful, and gave excellent service. We loved the whole experience, including a delicious meal in both the bar restaurant and dining room. The rooms were comfortable too, with a beautiful view of the Navesink river. Another wonderful stay at the Molly Pitcher Inn.

We were there for my nephew’s wedding Sept 26, and everything was beautiful. Debbie and Jake were fantastic, with outstanding service, and the rest of the staff were friendly and accommodating too. The rooms were a bit old and small, and could use some improvement, especially the bathroom.

The hotel is right on the water where the boats are docked. I wasn’t familiar with the area and didn’t notice anything else within walking distance. It seems popular for wedding parties. The building is old and historic, but looked clean and well kept. Breakfast took a while, though it tasted really good and the service was friendly. There’s a nice bar and outdoor seating. The pool area looked lovely, but I didn’t have time to try it.
