Comfort Inn Red Bluff

The room was clean otherwise, and I know the price is hard to beat and this isn't a five-star hotel. Still, the non-smoking room smelled of cigarettes. The door between the hot tub/pool and hotel was broken, so we couldn't get back inside without walking around to the front. The night staff guy wasn't much help. On my previous stay, the night staff gal was quite unfriendly. It could have been better.

This is my favorite place to stay around red bluff. The staff are friendly, helpful, and respectful of guests' privacy. Breakfast is complimentary and a nice way to start the day. There's an outdoor pool, fitness room, laundry room, and elevator for the upper floors. Parking is plentiful, with semi truck and R.V. parking across the street.

The room itself was okay, but the internet was down for my whole stay and cell service was poor. I asked, but they offered no extra points or price reduction, and didn't even give an earnest apology. There were signs listing commissary goods and prices, but no goods available. The rule against eating breakfast in your room seemed really dumb. It feels like these days, unless you're paying hundreds and hundreds a night, people do the bare minimum and aren't especially courteous, friendly, or polite.

I'm glad the bed was comfortable, and the room looking yucky wasn't a deal breaker. But the setup for an accessibility room was unsafe and poorly planned. We arrived after dark to a large room with just one light on by the door and no switches we could find for the rest of it. As older people, we worry about falls. We had to stumble around looking for lamps, then fumble in the dark to find their switches. At a regular price, that lighting problem would be laughable and extremely dangerous. The other features were petty and ridiculous, though they didn't seem unsafe. This wasn't a premium room. The hotel needs someone to check its accessibility rooms before somebody gets hurt. Poor planning and implementation put clients at risk. I'm glad we weren't the ones who took the fall that will happen.
