Aspen Townhomes

We loved having a full kitchen and a gas fireplace, and the in-unit washer and dryer were handy. The townhome gave us space and privacy for a surprisingly affordable price, with spotless rooms that felt well cared for. Aspen Townhomes sits on the Red Lodge Mountain Golf Course, with a peaceful setting and an easy scenic drive to downtown Red Lodge’s shops and restaurants. After a day on the slopes at Red Lodge Mountain or out on nearby trails, it was great to have the heated indoor pool, hot tub, and sauna. There’s also a game room and fitness center. The Beartooth Mountains make a beautiful backdrop from the private patio. This was a fantastic home base for a Montana trip, for couples or families. I was wowed, and yes, I have a journalism degree and know how to turn a phrase. Hope this helps you choose. Trust me.

The golf course surrounds the property, and the area adds a lot to the atmosphere. The pool is very nice, with a hot tub and sauna, plus an upstairs area with a couple of games and workout space. Just keep in mind that the pool has set hours, so plan around them. We’re a family of six, with three boys and one girl, and have enjoyed our stay so far. The condo has two bedrooms and two bathrooms, plus a pullout couch. One bedroom and bathroom are upstairs; the master and other bedroom are downstairs off the main living area. The kitchen is a suitable size, and there’s laundry in the condo. It’s comfortable, dated but charming and clean. The staff have been friendly, and the town is charming too. We’d come back.

The unit was beautiful and close to lots of activities. But as we were leaving, we got a call accusing us of taking pillows and pillowcases, and were charged for them. We brought our own pillows from home and left with the same ones we arrived with. In our family’s 20 years using RCI, we’ve never once been accused of stealing anything. I would have given this five stars otherwise.

We weren’t at the condo much, since it was mainly a starting point for exploring the surrounding area and Yellowstone. The manager said our family of two adults and five kids exceeded occupancy, even though the unit has three queen beds. They don’t have a Fire Marshall certification of occupancy, so it felt like they were discriminating against families with children. We paid the imposed fine and moved on. The staff weren’t especially welcoming. When I asked about local information and playgrounds, they sent us to the town welcome center, which was very different from the usual check-in or concierge service. If you want a quiet base for golfing, fishing, hiking, or winter snow activities, it may suit you. Just don’t expect much support or friendliness from the staff.
