Nichols Inn of Red Wing

Very clean and pretty basic. Our room was spotless when we got there. Breakfast was fine, and I liked that there was an omelette maker, though no fresh fruit. Worked well for one night.

The place looked nice and was clean, and I got a $16 AAA discount. Still, Saturday night came to over $230, and my parents, my wife, and I had a horrible stay. Room 202 was right by the road, so we heard traffic all night, including truckers jake braking and motorcycles. A group I assume was a wedding party kept partying in the lobby into the early morning, and my wife asked them to quiet down. None of us slept well on Saturday, September 6. My parents are 80, so we asked for extra pillows. We were told each bed was limited to three; the staff gave us one, and a couple staying there gave us two more.

I gave five stars so this would get seen. Last year, in the most expensive room on the top floor, I found the previous guest’s dirty clothes in the bathroom. They smelled awful, and it left me wondering whether the room had been cleaned properly. Now I tried to book a room for my fiance while our house is being gassed for bugs, and they refused because we live in town. That makes no sense to me. They’re in Red Wing but won’t serve Red Wing customers.

This was my second stay. I’ve come for concerts at the casino and like having a quiet place away from the busy casino, while still being only a 15-minute drive away. I’d stay here again for another concert.
