Parkway Motel Red Wing

A hardworking, honest owner and a great little local business. They put real effort into making the stay pleasant and keeping the place safe.

I was traveling with a full-size truck and a 20-foot boat, so I checked with the owner before booking about parking and charging my batteries. She said she’d have space for me, and she did. The owner was friendly and helpful, and everything in the room worked and was very clean. I spent two nights at the Parkway Motel during a three-day trip to the Red Wing area for fishing on the Mississippi River. Nothing fancy, but I enjoyed the stay and look forward to returning.

The owner clearly takes pride in the place. Rooms are clean, the rates are the most affordable in Red Wing, and it’s close to restaurants and stores. No bed bugs, roaches, or rodents like at some other places. DoorDash delivery is easy here too.

Our two mini dachshunds bark at just about everything, but only reacted once when a car pulled in and unloaded, so the room seemed pretty soundproof. Pets are allowed for a small nightly fee. The bed was amazingly comfortable, soft but still supportive, and we didn’t get overheated. The owner greeted us and was kind and helpful. Getting into the room was easy; it was clean and spacious, with what looked like a new mini fridge, microwave, and AC, plus plenty of room for luggage. There were plenty of standard-size hotel towels, though I bring my own big bath sheet. I also bring my own pillows since only two are provided, but I’m sure we could’ve asked for more. The location is just outside town, near restaurants, stores, and banks, and only minutes from local attractions. The Twin Cities are about 30-45 minutes away. This is a hidden gem and will be our regular choice for family reunions and vacations. Good service matters a lot, and this place has it, along with newer amenities and that nostalgic roadside motel feel.
