Hyatt House Seattle/Redmond

I spent two weeks here with my daughter and our three dogs. It was my first stay at Hyatt House. We’re well-behaved, family-oriented travelers who are used to high-standard hotels. At check-in, the front desk woman was rude and had an attitude, which was my first warning sign. The room conditions and service were awful. During the stay we were in three different rooms, and each had mold throughout. Water drenched the windows, and water dripped from the window and door handles. The rooms weren’t cleaned well. In the last one, water left on the shower floor by the previous guest had turned foul and smelled strongly. When I requested housekeeping once, they left the bed half undone. I also noticed that they didn’t disinfect, vacuum, or change the sheets during our stay. My daughter saw a small dog coming out of the pool with a family one morning, and I don’t think dogs should be allowed in hotel pools. We got calls around the clock claiming our emotional support dogs were barking, even when people and kids were making noise in the hallway, or when the dogs were outside with us. Staff tried to tell me what to do with them and were disrespectful. When I raised issues with the room or service, reception employees retaliated by complaining about the dogs. They were sweet, well-behaved animals. If you have pets, please don’t stay here. They say they’re pet-friendly, but that wasn’t my experience. The stay was stressful and unpleasant. I also ate at the restaurant. My food came completely raw, and the chicken in my daughter’s salad was raw too. I found it strange that they use chicken thighs rather than breast in the salad. Another couple was complaining to the server that their food tasted terrible and wasn’t cooked properly. The chef asked if mine tasted good; I told him it was raw. He apologized and said the bill would be taken care of. At the end of the stay, I got a call saying I could never stay at a Hyatt or an affiliated hotel again. They said it was because I complained about the raw food and my dogs, which had never barked. That confirmed to me that they were retaliating. I then moved to the Archer Hotel in Redmond, not knowing it was affiliated with Hyatt House. I paid about $300 a night plus tax for a suite, and things were going well until someone called at midnight claiming to be the hotel’s General Manager. They said I’d have to check out by 11 a.m. the next morning, even though I’d paid for a week in advance. I called the front desk from my personal phone to ask if their General Manager was there, and they said no General Manager was at the hotel then.

Janice at breakfast in the restaurant was the best part of our stay. Her big smile and caring, upbeat attitude made my morning coffee and started our day off well. Management should know she’s a very important part of the hotel and take good care of her. We spent ten vacation days here and used it as a base for trips around Kirkland, Bellevue, Seattle, and elsewhere. The property is clean and new, and the rooms were excellent, with no smells or furniture damage. The neighborhood is quiet, though the nearby busy street meant we sometimes heard a couple of loud cars go by. I’ll always come back. This is my hotel in the Seattle area.

The staff kept the dining area clean, wiping down each table promptly after people finished, and breakfast had plenty of choices for different tastes. The front desk team, led by Brian, greeted me warmly every day and even held a package that arrived before check-in, then put it in my room. That thoughtful help made the stay even better. My room was spacious and clean, and the in-room kitchen made the place feel like home. The location was ideal too. I had a fantastic stay at Hyatt House Redmond.

A nice trail and stream nearby make for a good walk. It’s a relaxing place, but still close to everything. We had a problem with our original room and they moved us right away. Breakfast was good each day, and the staff were friendly.
