Comfort Inn Redwood City

The bed was more comfortable than sleeping in my car, but that’s about the only good thing I can say. I thought I’d save $35-$40 compared with the Courtyard Marriott, but I’m going back there today. I came to Redwood City for five nights and booked here because the price looked good. I’m checking out after just one night. The room didn’t smell or feel clean. It seemed like they’d tried to get the smoke smell out of the room and bathroom, but there were obvious stains all over the carpets. There were crumbs on the chair and I found a hair on the bed. The website shows a pool, but it’s closed. Given the rest of the property, I’m not sure I’d have trusted how clean it was anyway.

The front desk staff were great, and the breakfast staff were nice, though breakfast could be handled more professionally. They kept putting bacon and eggs into the warmer every time two people served themselves. That warmer is meant for a family of three. Keep track of how many guests there are and keep up. The breakfast room is really small for such a big hotel. Otherwise, it was pretty decent.

It was quiet, and the bed was really comfortable. The room was very clean, and breakfast was included, with the basics like eggs, sausage, cereal, breads and pastries, fruit, and yogurt. Some of the repairs and patch jobs could have been made more seamless, but I was there to sleep and relax, and it worked out great for that. The staff were polite. I only dealt with them at check-in, and I’ll stay there again next time I’m in town.

The rooms are in a separate building, and it was quiet. The parking garage set back from the street was nice. There weren’t many guests, so breakfast wasn’t crowded. The pool wasn’t clean on the first day, so we didn’t swim. The hotel was clean and quiet, though it wasn’t the easiest to find, so watch for the signs.
