The room was worn and needed upkeep, but the repeated service problems were what really stood out. Guests should be able to count on the shuttle and a staffed front desk, and neither came close to a reasonable standard during my stay. When I arrived, I called the shuttle line and was told it was on its way to Door D. I waited over 40 minutes and called more than a dozen times without getting an answer, then gave up and walked. The next morning I tried the shuttle once more, but after five minutes with no sign of it, I walked again. Check-in was just as frustrating. There was only one person ahead of me, yet it took 30 minutes. That suggests a staffing or training problem. If your time and peace of mind matter, I'd look elsewhere nearby.
For $100 next to the airport, it's a decent place to sleep, but I'd call it a solid three. The staff were just doing their jobs, without much enthusiasm. The room had old orange wood furniture, popcorn ceilings, lumpy flat carpet, and dull artwork, like a grandmother's house. It's pet friendly, so expect a dog bed in the room. There was a musty smell that I got used to. The blanket was my main complaint for the price. Reno gets cold, and I expected a comforter instead of a thin quilt. The place needs renovation, though a renovation would probably mean higher prices. If I owned it, I'd update it and charge more. Still, it works if you just need somewhere to sleep.
After 72 hours of flying and almost no sleep, I got to my room at 1:30 a.m. The toilet hadn't been flushed by the previous guest, and the bathroom lights didn't work. I was almost glad about the lights. The attendant came up playing metal music loudly from his phone and couldn't see why I was upset. He told me I “won't find anywhere better” and said to leave if I didn't like it. I took him up on that and left instead of staying to see what else hadn't been cleaned or changed. Trust the other reviews and don't stay here, even if they paid you.
We're on the road a lot and usually stay at Best Western, which is normally not too bad. This was the most disturbing and disgusting place I've been. At first glance, I thought it looked okay, even though it's by the airport. The room smelled a bit musty, but everywhere else was booked, so we had no other option. While I sat on one bed waiting for my husband to bring in the luggage, I noticed something on the other headboard. I first thought it was a centipede, then maybe a caterpillar, but it was a woman's eyelash. I nearly threw up. I wanted to make a scene, but my husband asked me not to because we had nowhere else to go. We scrubbed the room with a filthy wash rag and washed our hands in hot water. The food we got at the bar was okay, not great, and a closer look while waiting for it made the place seem dirty throughout. Back in the room, only one light bulb worked. The electrical switch on the lamp was broken with wires hanging out, which seemed like a fire hazard, and the towels were stiff. I'll never stay here again. It was my first time passing through Reno, and the whole town is a dump. My husband should at least get his points back. Please talk to the cleaning staff and take better care of the rooms. There's a photo of the woman's eyelash stuck to the headboard. I hate to imagine how it got there. They ask for a photo, but of course they don't show it because it's disgusting.
The front desk receptionist acted as if everything had to be done her way. She said that regardless of what our companies had agreed on, I had to give her my credit card or sleep outside. I showed her my email, which said the company covered all damages, but she still made me provide my card. I was exhausted after work and a roughly four-hour drive, and just wanted to rest, so I handed it over. This is one of the worst Best Western hotels I've stayed at.
