Residence Inn By Marriott Reno South

We had a great long weekend here in a nice, clean room with a perfect kitchenette. The area was quiet, and check-in was easy. We did wait about 10 minutes for the room, but the clean lobby had coffee, tea, and lemon water, and the front desk let us know as soon as it was ready. Breakfast choices were limited, though what we had was good. We’d definitely stay again when we’re in the area.

Every staff member was kind and welcoming, and the rooms were spacious, clean, and comfortable. I stayed for a week while visiting town and thought it was a great hotel. The breakfast was free, fresh, and delicious, with something different each day. There’s even a putting green by the pool, and you can ask to borrow putters. We also loved walking across the street to have dinner at the restaurants in the casino next door. Such a convenient spot.

It was just what they advertised: a clean, comfortable stay, friendly service, and a reasonable price. Housekeeping came every third day, and the front desk service was great. The location was fine, though there wasn’t much around. Tamarack Casino is across the parking lot, but it has no table games.

This building opened in August 2025 and feels brand new. It’s in a relaxed part of Reno, with free parking and friendly staff. We could walk to restaurants and shopping, but it wasn’t an enjoyable walk. It’s a two-minute drive, and delivery or rideshare pickups are easy to get. The hotel is far enough from Reno’s busy streets and foot traffic, but close to a small casino, mini storage, and homes. A good fit for families, low-key business trips, or an active getaway, and Mt. Rose is about a 30-minute drive away. Internet was good enough for a one-hour midday MS Teams call. I don’t think rooms get a scheduled full cleaning every day like some people might expect at a hotel, which was fine.
