SpringHill Suites by Marriott Reno

The hot tub had things floating in it, and its jets weren't working. Noise and privacy were issues in the room too: we heard coughing, conversations, and ordinary movement next door, along with footsteps from above. There was a visible gap under the door where hallway light came through. This was our two-night anniversary stay at SpringHill Suites Reno, and it was one of our most disappointing Marriott visits. We'd mentioned the occasion in advance but got no acknowledgment. Our requests for a higher floor, extra towels, and firm pillows weren't met. The room smelled unpleasant, the air conditioning swung between too cold and not running, and the bed squeaked and felt uncomfortable. The pillows were very soft and flat. Other room problems added up: some washcloths had yellow stains, the phone didn't work, and the shower controls required stepping all the way into the shower to turn it on. There was no coffee, and toiletries and tissues were already running low when we arrived. No housekeeping came during our two nights, so the bed wasn't made, trash stayed in the room, and towels weren't replaced after the first night. The front desk said service had to be requested, which surprised us because we've always had daily service at other Marriott properties. A housekeeper later told me our room wasn't on her schedule, then walked away mid-conversation without showing courtesy or engaging with me. After the hot tub, I went to the desk for water and raised the housekeeping issue again. They gave me a bottle and said, “Sorry for the housekeeping issue,” but that didn't feel like an appropriate fix. Staff interactions overall felt unwelcoming and short on the professionalism and warmth we've come to expect. For a special occasion, a single bottle of water wasn't much of a response. The property feels budget-oriented and didn't meet the Marriott standard we expect as loyal guests who often celebrate our anniversary at Marriott hotels. We hope management takes these concerns seriously, because there is a lot to improve.

A good option if you want to avoid casino resorts, especially with kids. There's no smoke smell, the staff are friendly and attentive, and check-in was easy. Breakfast is free, and the kids liked the pool. Our room was very clean and quiet at night, with little outside noise. There are good places to eat nearby, and Mt. Rose ski resort is about 20 minutes away. We'll be back. Thank you!

We landed here at the last minute because our travel plans had turned chaotic, and the front desk guy was great. He got us a discount, and the room was amazing for the price. It had two beds, a desk, a full-length mirror, a closet, and a couch that converts into two beds. Coffee was included, with decaf available. The couch bed was surprisingly comfortable. When I ordered pizza, the man at the desk offered plates and napkins for me and my friends. The pool stays open until 11 p.m., and breakfast is free. Everything seemed clean, the sheets and blankets were stain-free, and the room didn't smell like smoke. I hadn't expected this much comfort at that price. Loved our stay. ✨

The rooms, beds, and linens were great, and the complimentary breakfast was handy before we got back on the road. It was also close to a gas station. I wish the ice creams in the store had price tags. I probably wouldn't have bought them for later, only to leave them melting in the fridge. They were $10, by the way.
