Sonesta Select Seattle Renton Suites

I spent weeks here while working on a new Tesla dealership, and I’d happily stay again if I’m back in the area. The suites are large, the beds are comfortable, and the lot feels safe and secure. It’s quiet enough, although hallway noise carries. Breakfast is standard, and the staff are friendly and capable. They also run shuttles to the airport and other events. I saw them heading to sports games and the Superbowl parade.

The beds left us aching, and there was mold in the bathrooms. Breakfast staff gave us the stink eye. Housekeeping were the only people who were really nice. Everyone else seemed unaware of what was happening at the place they worked. I wouldn’t come back. The stay wasn’t the worst I’ve had, but it was bad enough. The pool situation was especially frustrating. We asked if it was open, were told yes, and the front desk gave us towels. We swam for ten minutes before an older man, who I assume was maintenance, chased us out and said it wasn’t working properly. He claimed the closed sign had fallen off the door and even said it might make us sick. Yet the next morning, people were using the pool. After looking into it, I suspect this worker just doesn’t want to clean the pool area at night and tells guests it’s out of order. My son was flying out the next morning, and our younger kids wanted some fun time with their brother before he’d be away for a long time. Their time together was cut short for no reason. From other reviews, it seems this has been going on for a while and management doesn’t care. It’s a typical hotel, and I hadn’t realized Sonesta Select might be the lower-end rooms they offer. The stay was unpleasant.

The rest of the room was tidy, and breakfast was fresh and tasty. The morning front desk staff were friendly. The bathroom needed more attention, though. There was hair on the shower floor, the glass doors were very dirty, and the toilet hadn’t been scrubbed.

The room was foul and disgusting. There were several duct tape patches on the shower, pink and black soap scum, a broken drain plug, and hair left behind. Dead bugs and red stains were on the curtains, and the couch had several white stains. Most of us didn’t even shower or open our suitcases. We would definitely have switched hotels before our event if we’d had time, and honestly shouldn’t have had to pay for that room. Check-in through checkout was a disappointment. The front desk staff were unfriendly and made it seem like we were bothering them. When we asked for toiletries, they told us to come get them because they didn’t have time to bring them. I hope people keep posting honest reviews so others can save their money and stay elsewhere.
