The Requa Inn seems suited to people who really enjoy antiques and the quirks that come with an old building. If that’s not your thing, the casino down the street might suit you better. I work with properties, so I understand that older places can be challenging, but I arrived tired from a road trip and had no idea what to expect. The room was much smaller than the photos led me to believe, and headlights shine through the blinds because of how it’s positioned. The showerhead was too low for me, and I’m only 5' 2" on a good day. The walls are so thin you have to whisper. There’s free Wi-Fi, but it’s too slow to do much with. The guidebook mentions that nearby dogs may bark. They didn’t during our trip, but I hadn’t seen that noted on the website. Finding all this out when I just wanted to relax wasn’t a nice surprise.

The location worked really well for hiking, between Jedidiah Smith Redwoods State Park and Redwood National State Park. There’s also a great sunset overlook about a five-minute drive away. The inn itself is lovely, with beautiful themed art and inviting rooms. The doors are left open so you can have a look around, and the main floor feels cozy, with wine for sale and tea and coffee available around the clock. The dining room has white tablecloths styled for the season. My wife and I had breakfast there twice, and I loved it both times. The staff were great, too. Food choices are limited. In the off-season the inn doesn’t serve dinner, and the local bar is pretty much the other option in town. It’s good, but it’s bar food. Crescent City is about a 20-minute drive if you want more choices.

We came for the National Park, but ended up spending about a third of each day just enjoying the hotel. The location is gorgeous, and you can feel the history as soon as you walk through the doors. It’s such a cozy, special place. The staff were so welcoming and attentive, more like friends who really wanted us to feel at home. I also loved how easy it was to feel part of a community with the other guests. Breakfast at the restaurant was a 10 out of 10. Even the simple dishes tasted delicious. Our 8 year old daughter didn’t want to leave, and we all promised to make the Historic Requa Inn a regular stop on our family vacations. It’s the kind of place you want to share with everyone and keep as your own little secret. Thanks to everyone for making the stay feel so magical. We can’t wait to come back!

The views are gorgeous where the Klamath River meets the Pacific, and the inn is well placed for reaching both the northern and southern parts of Redwood NP. A perfect coastal overlook is only a couple of minutes up the road, especially lovely at sunset. The staff were helpful and informative before our visit, which made arrival and the stay trouble free.

Requa Inn made a great base for exploring the nearby Redwood Parks. I had a wonderful, quiet, relaxing stay, and the room was very nice. Breakfast was great, too. I was there in the off-season, when there’s no dinner at the inn, and food choices in Klamath are limited. Crescent City, about 20 minutes north, has more options. Prairie Creek Cathedral Trails is an easy, family friendly walk through the redwoods. Fern Canyon is magical as well, but bring another pair of shoes and socks. Your feet will get wet, though that’s part of the adventure! Thanks to everyone at The Requa Inn for such an enjoyable stay. And catch the sunset at the Klamath overlook just up the road.
