Hyatt Regency Reston

The location in Reston is hard to beat, with so much nearby, and the service was good. Capitol Burger has tasty food, though it’s a bit pricey, and it’s a great spot for drinks. The room was good, just not quite five-star for me. The beds were soft and warm, but the pillows were a little small, though you get about four.

Farnaz at the front desk was so sweet and personable, and her service was phenomenal. She deserves a raise, seriously. I’ll definitely book here again when I need to be in the area. The hotel is right off 267, so access is convenient. You have to stop in front first to get a room key before driving into the free parking garage. Everything else was great, though I’d love to see an exhaust fan added in the bathroom.

The location in Reston Town Centre was the main saving grace, with restaurants and activities nearby, and Masti Indian Restaurant downstairs had amazing food. The lounge and facilities looked nice, but the event noise was overwhelming, and the room was a letdown. The old cream-colored towels were terrible, there was dirt and grime in the bathroom, and the vent was blowing out debris. For almost $400 a night at a 4-star hotel, I expected better cleaning and value. My check-in with Sabina at reception was a nightmare. She was unkind, impatient, and unprofessional. When my card was declined, she condescendingly told me to try another card or that nothing could be done, without checking whether the terminal was working. Ekram was kind and patient and managed to sort it out with the same card. I also saw Sabina treat other guests with the same lack of warmth, so it didn’t seem like a one-off. The hotel is selling hospitality along with a bed, and the staff need training in what that means. The service and lack of warmth badly let the place down.

The hotel was quiet and had security, and it’s in a convenient spot for commuting to work. My room was very clean, and the shower had good pressure and temperature. There’s a restaurant downstairs with pretty decent food if you don’t feel like going out.
