Historic Philip Houston House

The Pastor's Suite stood out to me, with seminary books and other subjects to read and reflect on, plus a shelf devoted to women in ministry. It feels uplifting, and the owner offers this space as a refuge for pastors and church leaders. Out on the wraparound porch, I loved having coffee and catching the morning breeze. Inside, there’s a big, beautiful dining table, a well-equipped kitchen, two sitting areas, and the pastor's library. The owner and staff were kind, and we really enjoyed talking with them. The house itself is historic, ornate, and beautiful. Each room is named for someone in the original family and furnished with period pieces. The owner knows the house’s history and can tell you how that family lived there. Rexford has the quiet, privacy, and fresh air I was looking for, while Colby, Hoxie, and Oakley are a short drive away for restaurants and groceries. We’ve had good experiences at the family-owned local restaurants we tried, though chain options are around too. It’s a lovely place to rest and recharge, whether you’re traveling or local.
