Super 8 by Wyndham Rice Lake

I called the third time trying to understand the policy, and again someone talked over me and treated me like I was stupid. I used to work in hotels and wanted to know why they wouldn't cancel the second night. We offered to pay for one night of our two-night stay because the mistake was ours, but asked to cancel the second night since we wouldn't be there for either room. Expedia contacted the hotel and told us they wouldn't cancel either room or refund us. We had booked four rooms thinking they'd all be in the same place. It turned out the booking was through Expedia, with two rooms at our chosen location and two 50 miles away in Rice Lake. I first called the hotel front desk and was told there was nothing they could do, and to contact Expedia. The number in my email that I thought was Expedia turned out to be this front desk. The woman cut me off and rudely said she'd already told me she couldn't help. I apologized and said I hadn't realized I was calling her back. I don't know how anyone would stay here. After the other reviews I've read and how I was treated, I'll never stay or recommend it.

The room was very quiet and peaceful, and the location was convenient, with Walmart, Aldi, and a gas station nearby. Still, my first stay here wasn't a good experience. There was a stain on the sheets, and I'm sure from working in housekeeping that they just changed the sheets and kept the quilt. The AC didn't work even after I called the front desk to have it fixed, so the room was hot and muggy. The sink for washing my hands also didn't seem properly fixed, just put together to get someone into the room.

The rooms are always spotless, and the location and facilities are great, but the staff are what keep us coming back. We've stayed here many times, and they make us feel seen, valued, and at home. They remember personal touches and handle any request with patience and care, whether at reception, housekeeping, room service, or management. From arrival to goodbye, they're warm, professional, and ready to help. Their dedication makes each visit feel more like visiting family than staying at a hotel. The staff create a welcoming atmosphere, and we're grateful to keep returning.

There are plenty of food options next to the motel, and the parking lot seems pretty safe. The place is clean and comfortable, the staff are friendly, and they welcome pets.
