For our wedding guests coming from out of town, we reserved rooms at the Lake House Restaurant & Lodge / the Baseball Hotel. The historic rooms felt like a cozy retreat, and the affordable rates plus pet-friendly options made a big difference for my family. Sabina made booking easy and helped everyone get the best option for their needs. She was so friendly and approachable, she made us feel at home. The food and cocktails at the restaurant were delicious on the several occasions we've been. Thanks for helping make our wedding day memorable. We can't recommend The Lake House enough and can't wait to come back.

The staff were very friendly and the place was pretty clean. With outdoor options like canoes and kayaks, it might suit you if you're after a rustic stay. The restaurant food was fine but a little overpriced. For one night to see a show in cooperstown, it did the job, but I wouldn't want to stay longer. The bed creaked with every breath and the pillows were paper thin. The bathroom blinds didn't cover the window all the way, which felt awkward with the shower right in front of it on the second floor, overlooking a big part of the property. The second floor hall sloped badly left, while our room sloped badly right. The walls blocked most sound, but upstairs guests' loud creaking footsteps kept us awake much of the night. The water smelled like sulfur and swung between scalding and ice cold, so most of the shower was spent trying to get it warm. The stall was tiny, with old pipes sticking out so far that I hit my head trying to get away from the changing temperature. If we come back to the area, we'll spend more for somewhere more modern.

It has a charming, quiet, comfortable feel, like the retro family cottages I remember from “up north.” The property is beautiful and right by the lake, with plenty of outdoor things to do, and it's super dog-friendly. Sabina and Patrick quickly responded and fixed the slow bathroom drain, which had been clogged by someone dropping a cotton ball down it. Come on, people, be responsible. Can't wait to return.

We stopped by in the middle of the afternoon for a quick bite. The place is an older property, and you can see its history. I admire how the owners are preserving the original inn while still moving it forward. Taking on a vintage establishment and operating, maintaining, and improving it all at once can't be easy. Preserving unique places like this takes patience and courage, and thankfully these folks are doing it. I read some earlier reviews and thought some of the comparisons were snobbish and completely out of line. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, our light meal was just right, and my wife raved about the French onion soup. We hope to come back for dinner soon.

We came in for dinner and ended up staying the night. The food was excellent, and so was the service. It's a quaint, historic place with a past that includes gangster Jack “Legs” Diamond. This family-owned treasure currently operates seasonally.
