Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Cleveland - Richfield by IHG

The hotel itself could use some attention, but the people working there were wonderful. Housekeeping was kind and did a great job, and I’m almost certain the front desk employee was named rob. He was really welcoming and did his best to make my stay more comfortable. I wish the Holiday Inns I’ve stayed at before had staff like him. I’d recommend this place for its clean, pleasant environment and complimentary breakfast.

Robert took care of everything we needed, and the free ice cream, muffins, hot chocolate, and coffee were available any time of day. Since the elevators weren’t working, those extras helped. The fourth-floor rooms also seemed to be discounted because of the elevator issue, and as IHG rewards members we got a very late checkout at 1pm. Breakfast had lots of options, though waffles might have been the one thing missing. I had the sausage biscuits and gravy, and they were wonderful. The shower was roomy, with a handy ledge for soap, and the fridge and freezer worked well enough to keep our ice cream frozen. The pool was a little cold, so we used the hot tub instead.

The staff were fantastic, and the whirlpool room was a lovely place to spend our anniversary. It was on the first floor, so getting in and out was quick, and the free ice cream available all night was a nice extra. The downside is that this is the only room with a jacuzzi inside, and it’s right by the lobby. We heard doors slamming, people talking loudly, and the elevator. The pool and hot tub are good options for regular rooms, but the specialty room needs a quieter spot. Move it somewhere calmer and it’d be an easy five stars. Otherwise, we had a fantastic stay. Muskateers was only seven minutes down the road and had amazing food.

The location worked well for where I needed to be, the room was spacious, and breakfast had good options. I liked the hotel and would come back, but housekeeping was a problem. I stayed three nights and would have appreciated having the room cleaned once. They didn’t service rooms until late, and after I’d been out all day, housekeeping would try to come in. When I raised it at the front desk, they said it would be late again because they clean the rooms that need it first.
