Monroe Inn

The free hot springs nearby were beautiful at sunset, and there were friendly locals to chat with while soaking. We hadn’t known about another perk either: each guest gets one free meal during the stay. We used ours for breakfast and paid for dinner because we really want this business to succeed. The restaurant is closed Mondays and Tuesdays, so the meal isn’t available then. I also loved the locally roasted coffee they make in a simple percolator, and you can buy some to take home. Ace's Place is attached to the Inn, which was such a relief after a long drive. Ali, the proprietor, and Jesse, the chef, met us when we arrived and made us feel like family right away. Our room was roomy, clean, pleasantly cool in the heat, and full of charming touches. I especially enjoyed the old WWII letters from soldiers to their sweethearts. The food was wonderful, thanks to the young chef’s passion and years of experience. The chicken schnitzel was amazing.

The place had such a pleasant Christmas retreat feel, right down to the little tree. Our room was very clean, surprisingly spacious, and nicely decorated. We were there when Ace’s was closed, so we missed out on the food, but the host went out of their way to make us comfortable and welcome. Can’t wait to come back :)

The sweet potato fries were the highlight, crispy outside and soft in the middle, and our food arrived hot and delicious. We stopped for lunch at the newly opened cafe, Ace’s Place at the Monroe Inn, where we got a warm welcome. Keaton was friendly and attentive, and the trendy decor with country music made it a fun spot. We’re looking forward to returning for the meatloaf and chicken schnitzel.

Jesse made me an elaborate dinner even though I arrived after 10 p.m., and it was exceptional. You can really taste the passion he puts into his cooking. I stayed at the Inn and had breakfast at the restaurant too. The place felt quaint and homey, with thoughtful details that made me comfortable. Check-in and communication were seamless. The hosts pointed me toward the amazing free local hot springs as well. I’d drive all the way back from Denver to do it again. It was one of the most genuinely five-star hospitality experiences I’ve had.
