Hampton Inn Savannah-I-95/Richmond Hill

A quiet place to stop for the night on a long drive. The beds were comfortable and everything was clean, though the hotel is definitely dated. It's just off I-95, which is handy, but there's not much at that exit besides a TA and fast food.

The lobby and front desk area smelled strongly of stale cigarette smoke, which was uncomfortable and concerning for me because I'm allergic to it. Afterward, management never reached out with an apology. They offered 30,000 points, but I still haven't received them. I was already exhausted after driving about seven hours from Miami, Florida, and had just learned my grandmother had passed away. I used my Hilton Honors points for this stay because I trusted the brand and needed rest and basic courtesy. I politely asked the front desk attendant whether I could check in early, and said I was willing to pay any extra fee. I wasn't demanding or disrespectful, but the response was rude and hostile, and I felt dismissed as a paying Hilton Honors member. While on the phone with my mother, I said I should have booked with Marriott, where I hadn't been treated this way. The representative reacted emotionally instead of keeping things professional or calming the situation. The whole interaction could have been handled with patience and compassion, even with a courteous no. In hospitality, you don't know what a guest may be going through.

After an 11-hour drive, we didn't have the energy to wait another hour when we arrived at 4 pm. Our reserved king room wasn't ready, despite check-in being at 3, so they put us in a two-queen room instead, with no reduction in the rate. Then, when I went to take a bath, I found hair along the tub rim and inside it. Very disappointing. I expect more from a Hampton Inn.

The room was simple, nothing fancy, but very clean, and the location was quiet. The people at the desk were kind and helpful, and even offered us bottled water when we checked in. Just a standard Hampton Inn, but a nice stop along the way. No complaints.
