Sunset Cove Villas in Laguna Beach

The villa itself was nice, and the property looked newly refurbished with an Italian theme. It was clean, had private beach access, and a shared deck with a spectacular ocean view. There was even a place to rinse sand off after the beach. But at $449 a night for a one-bedroom with no ocean view, the Djakarta “executive villa” had serious issues. I felt misled by the advertising. The Everyday Luxury inc. website, associated with the Keller Williams real estate company, showed several beach-view photos. Staff based in La Quinta, CA near Palm Springs told me by phone that the Djakarta villa definitely had a beach view. Instead, we looked out on an alley and a noisy taco restaurant next door on PCH Highway. The property is managed by 14 West Hotel across the street, but its staff didn’t know much about the villas, and I had to call several times with questions and repair concerns. There’s no maid service at all, so guests are on their own for cleaning and making beds. The stove and dishwasher only partly worked, the fire pit wouldn’t light, and there were half a dozen remotes for TVs that use multiple apps, with no login instructions. Underground parking costs $35 a day, so it isn’t free. The stalls are tight and cramped, and anything larger than a small SUV probably won’t fit. Overall, the property is nice, but it was much less than advertised and not worth the cost. We had a one-bedroom here for my birthday, and it had everything we could need. The shared lounge was a great place to relax in the sun, and we loved being able to walk to the beach and restaurants. It’s an amazing place, and we’ll definitely come back and recommend it to friends and family.

What a great find. We had our best Thanksgiving vacation, with gorgeous views, a super clean villa, and everything fully stocked. We’re going to make it an annual trip.

The setting around this property is beautiful, and the staff were outstanding. Everything felt perfect, even down to the smallest detail. A spectacular place and location, with nothing but good things to say. Highly recommend.
