Home2 Suites by Hilton Richmond Hilll Savannah I-95

The person who checked us in was great, and the lot had room for our truck and trailer right off I-95. That was about where the positives ended. The elevator smelled like rotten milk or vomit, and the room was very subpar for cleanliness. After reading other reviews, it seems the elevator has smelled for months. I think this place needs a corporate review. My brother booked it because Home2 is normally a safe stay.

I appreciated how roomy the Home2 Suites room was, especially the couch area. I didn't use the kitchen, but it looked like it had everything you might need. There were plenty of outlets in convenient places for our devices and chargers, which isn't always the case in hotels. The walk-in shower was great for my bad knees. I was told most rooms have showers only. I've attached a photo because I couldn't find one of the shower on the website, and that's something I always check. I had requested a high floor in my account profile and on the reservation, but when I chose a room, the only options were on the bottom two floors of the four-story building. I could hear some noise from above. I was told that next time, the best way to request both a high floor and a walk-in shower is to call the hotel directly about five minutes after booking online. We had a very nice visit around Thanksgiving, and I'll do that next time.

The hotel was adequate, though not somewhere I would have chosen. Our insurance company picked it while our home was being repaired. Front desk staff were generally courteous and professional, and Shanice especially helped turn what could have been a much worse stay into a manageable one. The bathroom mirror had a sticker saying rooms are cleaned every other day, but that didn't happen until I brought it up with the front desk. They took care of it. The air conditioning also malfunctioned for two nights in a row, and the front desk staff handled that too. If you stay here, expect a serviceable hotel and good help from the people at the front. Shanice is a real asset to this location.

I've stayed at quite a few Home2 Suites and other Hilton hotels, and this wasn't acceptable. The tub was clogged, the AC in the main area didn't work, and the bedroom unit rattled and was broken. The rooms felt muggy and smelled damp and moldy, and there were black stains on the sheets. I paid with half points and half cash. I want my money and points back immediately. No thank you.
