Super 8 Roanoke VA

I ended up staying at the Quality Inn across the road because there was nowhere for my truck to park, despite the claim that truck parking was available. The front desk woman smelled like marijuana, demanded a cash deposit, and had her son there, who was very rude. She was meant to cancel my reservation but charged my card for a stay that never happened.

The comforters had burn holes all over them, and there were holes in some of the sheets too. A desk leg was broken, and the room safe had been torn off the wall. That's not what I'd expect from a Super 8. They required a $100 cash deposit, which they refunded when we checked out.

At checkout I told the manager that my wife had been shocked by a piece of metal stuck in the lamp outlet, and the manager showed no emotion. For breakfast, all we found for my wife, toddler and me was bread and packets of cream cheese. The mini fridge was completely empty except for juice, and there was hot water, though I wasn't sure if there was coffee. Worst experience ever. When we arrived, our first room hadn't been made up, and the bathroom and bed had clearly been used. I went to the front desk, and the woman just handed me another key without saying anything or apologizing. That room smelled musty, and the hallway near it reeked of cigarettes. There was also a stain and what looked like crumbs on the bedsheet, along with what looked like a cigarette burn. I was thrown off by the $100 cash deposit and had to use an ATM there that charged $3. My wife was shocked when she turned on the lamp because a metal piece was stuck in its outlet. The stay was terrible, I don't recommend it, and unless the place changes soon it should shut down. If I could give zero stars I would.

The room I finally got had no occupants, though I was expecting a dead body under the bed. None of the lights worked, the TV was out, and the AC fan didn't work. It was so late and I was past the point of turning back, so I just went to sleep. I waited 20 minutes to get my cash deposit back. If I could leave negative stars I would. This place is a rat hole. I never leave negative reviews, but I was driving back to NC, got too tired to continue, and booked this place on hotels.com. The old dirty carpet and stench made me think right away it was a mistake. People were loitering around the parking lot. I understood the deposit, but they required cash and conveniently had an ATM that charged a $3.50 fee. When we entered the room, someone was already asleep in the bed. That happened three times. I asked the guy working if I could get my money back because I couldn't keep playing room roulette. He said the booking was nonrefundable. Eventually he found a room without anyone in it.
