Ramada by Wyndham Roanoke

The front desk staff were pleasant, but the hotel was rundown and the room was dirty. The TV and lights didn't work, the furniture was badly damaged, and the elevator had a faint urine smell. After more than 30 years of travel, this was the worst hotel I've stayed in. I was booked for two nights, but left after one. I only stayed that first night because I arrived late. It also felt dangerous. Domino's Pizza apparently no longer delivers here because drivers have been robbed.

I was so disgusted that I just wanted to leave, so I didn't report anything to the front desk. I work for a travel agency, and this was a really disappointing stay. The room was filthy, with half a used bar of soap in the shower, which was rusty and looked like it hadn't been cleaned in months. Several lights didn't work or had no bulbs, the bedspread and sheets had burn holes, there was just one pillow per bed even though there were two beds, and the towels were stained. The train came through at 2 a.m., and I hadn't seen it mentioned in any of the hotel descriptions. I canceled my other reservation for later in the week. I'd give this zero stars if I could.

We were a group of ten, including two elderly people, and this was the worst experience ever. I checked the bed when we arrived and found hair, stains, and blood. It was clear the sheets and pillowcases hadn't been cleaned. The TV didn't work, the fridge door stuck, there were only two towels, the tub had hair in it, and the carpet and room were filthy. The front desk moved us two doors down. The sheets there were somewhat clean, so we accepted the room, but the problems continued. We had to ask for towels, and there was no toilet paper. The front desk woman wasn't polite and told us to come pick it up ourselves. In the morning, there was more hair in the filthy tub, the fridge still stuck, and there was no ironing board. Do your research before booking. After this, we'll never stay at a Ramada again.

The first room they sent me to hadn't been turned over. They moved me to another one where the beds were made, but there was a mask in the corner, so it couldn't have been cleaned very well. I think housekeeping would've noticed the missing shower curtain too. There were mice in the walls, and uncovered outlets gave them easy access to the room. I'm really hoping for a refund. The front desk person said they'd speak with the manager and see what they could do. This sounds like a health code violation. Don't stay here. Spend a bit more somewhere else. It's cheap for a reason.
