We’ve been coming here every other week since October 2025. The property is generally well kept, has recently been renovated, and the staff are consistently friendly and accommodating. Still, I’ve raised a few concerns with the front desk several times and keep getting the same response. Breakfast is advertised until 9 a.m., yet on several visits I’ve tried to get hot tea and juice at 8:45 or 8:50 and found staff closing curtains, shutting down machines, and taking food away. I’ve had to ask the front desk agent more than once to tell them to stop. The hot food is usually not hot or even warm, and the meat is often quite dry. The silverware sits loose in pull-out drawers under the counter, with no napkins or sleeves, so when we do eat I get a cup of hot water to sterilize it first. Also, one washing machine has been out of service since October, with the repeated explanation that someone is working on it or a part has been ordered.

This is my go-to when I’m in Roanoke several times a year. The staff, especially AGM, Antony, are welcoming and helpful, and treat guests like family. The hotel sits just off I-81, close to the airport and in a larger shopping complex, with plenty of shops and places to eat within walking distance. I travel with my fur baby, and it’s a good spot for pet parents, with room to walk pets away from the busy roads. It’s quiet for travelers and well lit for late arrivals and safety. The Blue Ridge mountain views are a bonus. The property is being updated, but the work has caused minimal disruption during guest hours, including overnight and on short stays. My room had already been updated with new paint, carpet, and furnishings, and was quite nice, typical of a Home 2. The common areas, including elevators and reception, are still being refreshed, but that didn’t affect my stay. The work appears to be updates rather than actual construction and is limited to daytime, starting at 9 a.m. after most guests have left. Another great stay. I’ll add photos next trip.

Check-in staff were cordial and nice, and we love Home 2 Suites, so I hope the renovations improve things. Right now the whole downstairs is under renovation, and some doors aren’t working properly. We didn’t want to go outside and around the building just to reach the pool and hot tub because one door wasn’t functioning. Given what I saw inside, it also seems pretty expensive.

I left with a full refund and everyone was happy, and I’d stay again. The front desk women were amazing, especially Nakita, even helping when Booking.com couldn’t sort out a booking mistake and seemed to make things harder. The evening guy was rude, though. We went to the pool and hot tub after our keys let us in, but then found a paper on the floor saying the pool was closed. A housekeeper later came by to drop off towels and picked up the paper. It was only held up with one piece of regular tape, so I hadn’t seen it. The evening guy then rudely said we couldn’t be there and that he’d put the notice up that morning. But the front desk woman said she’d put it up the previous night at closing, so someone was lying. I wasn’t, since my key let me in. You’d think the door would be locked if the pool was closed.

Alison at the front desk was really helpful when I checked in around 7 p.m. I need extra quiet rooms because of noise and vibration sensitivity from chemo neuropathy, and she was friendly and competent. She should be running the place, and I hope they promote her to management. The stay was excellent overall. My only complaint was that most of the breakfast buffet had run out well before breakfast was over. Whoever is responsible needs to step it up. I know this isn’t a high-end property, but there still shouldn’t be empty items.
