Hyatt Place Roanoke Airport/Valley View Mall

The only problem was a sink that didn’t drain properly, a minor inconvenience. The front desk woman working evenings from 1/19-1/22 was awesome, seemingly the only one on shift, yet she handled check-ins and calls and even made my food to go. Give that girl a raise. The rooms are clean and nice, food is decent, breakfast is good and clean, prices are fair, and the wifi isn’t spotty. Good place, and I’ll stay here again.

The hotel wasn’t as advertised. Our room was said to sleep six, but it only slept four, so people had to sleep on the floor. The desk staff weren’t helpful, and there wasn’t even a cot. The pool was closed, but we weren’t told that when we booked. I’d recommend finding somewhere with better customer service.

The customer service was great, and breakfast was good. We paid the member price for a king plus, or something like that, though I’m not sure what made it “plus.” The mini fridge is truly mini. There isn’t a Starbucks kiosk, but they had a long list of walkable restaurants, which made our night easier. I didn’t enjoy waking up to weed, though that was other people, not the hotel.

The room itself was perfectly fine, and things went well after the shuttle driver returned. Still, it was surprising to arrive for check-in and find no one at the front desk because the attendant was driving the shuttle. The hotel needs more staff.
