Courtyard by Marriott Richmond Scott’s Addition

We had a family celebration weekend with a large group, and the pool was nice. The in-house Bistro food was decent but expensive, and the location was handy for restaurants in Scott's Addition. Still, we found bed bugs in our first room, then bugs in each of the next two rooms they moved us to. Three rooms with bugs is appalling. When we reported it, a staff member brushed it off as “just debris.” Debris has no legs, and even dirt at that level would be unacceptable. The response was disappointing too. They offered 5,000 points to close the case, meaning we couldn't speak with the General Manager if we accepted. We declined, but the manager never called to discuss what happened or offer a formal apology. Parking is difficult and costs a daily fee. The bathroom lotion bottle was empty, which suggests they don't check supplies after checkout, and there were extra charges on my credit card. We'll never stay here again. The sanitation and lack of accountability were shocking. We often stay at Marriott properties while traveling and have never had a problem like this. This was very unbecoming of a Marriott.

The staff were friendly and incredibly helpful, and the hotel was in great shape. Our room and beds were spacious and comfortable, and there was a nice lobby and bar. We were nervous after reading reviews, but the check-in desks had signs explaining parking, and we found marked spaces in the inner lot on all three nights without trouble. There's another lot across the street with lots of spaces, visible from most rooms, and a crosswalk to get there. Paying $15 for parking is a bummer, though it's cheaper than independent garages. Scott's Addition was an easy walk, and the interstate was easy to reach. We were very happy here and would stay again.

Parking was a mess, and they charge by the night. There are several extra fees when you check in, too. The staff were great, no complaints there. The bar had a good vibe, and the guests staying there were a really nice crowd.

The room had a microwave, safe, and fridge, and the location was good. Still, the beds were hard and uncomfortable, the pillows went flat, and no mattress toppers were available. I asked for housekeeping twice, and they skipped our room both times. The bathroom was dirty, and the shower floor was gross. There was barely any closet space, just two extra drawers for clothes. The lobby Starbucks machine said it needed cleaning, and the coffee it made was disgusting, though I still had to pay for it. Staff were unfriendly, wouldn't help when asked, and didn't answer the phone when I called. Parking is $15 a day. Find another hotel.
