Historic Mankin Mansion

The team was great to work with, especially Gillian and her assistant, who supported me and my crew throughout the day. That makes a real difference as a vendor. The property at Mankin Mansion is beautiful, with lots of flexible photo locations. Rain was in the forecast and the weather was uncertain, but the team prepared an equally lovely backup ceremony space while still letting us use the outdoor ceremony area as planned. Gillian made the whole planning process feel manageable and personal. She was responsive, thoughtful, and on top of the details, answering every question and keeping us supported instead of stressed. We still talk about the first video meeting: our computer camera broke, but she stayed on screen talking to a photo of us. We looked forward to driving to Richmond for in-person meetings. Her follow-up emails gave us homework, but she also reassured us about our timeline. She encouraged our personal touches, including a friendship bracelet seating chart, Pokémon card guestbook, and table numbers. My husband, Grant, and I knew from our tour that Mankin Mansion felt special. We loved the greenery, elegance, and atmosphere, but the team, especially Gillian, made the experience. I've worked weddings, so I appreciated how smoothly the day ran. The venue looked stunning, our family and friends are still talking about it, and the staff handled setup, vendors, and the schedule behind the scenes so we could enjoy the day together. Gillian combined warmth with professionalism, and it never felt transactional. She seemed to truly care about making the wedding meaningful to us. We're grateful to her and the whole Mankin team for bringing our vision to life. We'd wholeheartedly recommend Mankin Mansion and Gillian to couples looking for an elegant, intimate venue and an attentive, experienced team. We couldn't have imagined a better wedding day.

Rain started just minutes after the ceremony, and the Mankin Mansion team already had umbrellas ready for our guests. They quickly moved the signage, decor, and everyone into the tent for cocktail hour. There were so many little things they handled that kept the day on track, and they checked on us and made sure our guests felt welcome throughout. My husband and I got married there on June 13, 2025. We fell in love with the beautiful grounds while touring venues, and the staff answered all our questions. The package includes a wedding planner, and Kathleen was wonderful from start to finish. At each meeting she listened to what we wanted and went above and beyond on the day to make it happen. We're so grateful for the team's hard work and professionalism. We highly recommend Mankin Mansion.

We owe a huge thank you to everyone at Mankin Mansion. Gillian was our planner, and we couldn't have managed the whole process without her help. The included planner was one of the most valuable parts of the package, especially compared with venues we toured that only suggested hiring a planner. Mankin's computer program laid everything out clearly, let us make changes and upload documents, and kept everyone informed. The other planners were there on the day too, and we had a good experience with all of them. The weather looked bad that morning, so we had committed to moving the ceremony into the indoor gallery. It's beautiful, and rain was one reason we chose the venue. As the afternoon cleared, we made a last-minute group decision to move back outside. The staff shifted everything from the gallery to the outdoor space calmly and quickly. Guests were impressed by the venue and how smoothly the ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner, and reception flowed. We can't say enough about the planning and the whole experience from start to finish. Lauren Morris photography (insta is @laurenmorrisphoto) took great photos, with lovely composition and colors that pop. I don't know if that's her camera settings or post-production, but she was a pleasure to work with. We had her bring a second shooter, who was great too, and they got all the shots we asked for efficiently. Highly recommend, and we can't wait to see the rest of the photos. Ninja strings played as guests arrived. They were reasonably priced, responsive, prompt, and sounded great. I'd consider them if you want live strings at any point during your wedding. Champagne Taste catering won us over at the tasting. The food was incredible, with lots of options to try. I wondered whether it would be just as good for a big group, and after the wedding I can say it was. We got plenty of compliments. The bar was great, and the friendly, attentive staff kept things running smoothly. Chris from Music makes you happy was our DJ and did a wonderful job keeping the dance floor full. The mics and speakers sounded great for both ceremony and reception, and the dance floor lighting was cool. I'd recommend them for DJ services too. Thanks again to all our vendors.
