The owners are what really made this place for us. They’re friendly, kind people, and you can tell they take pride in the hotel. The room was quiet even with neighbors on both sides, and we couldn’t hear anyone’s TV. It was basic, without fancy art or quirky furniture, but clean and fresh smelling, even though it was a smoking room. Nothing was dusty, the drawers were clean and opened easily, and the carpet wasn’t sticky. The beds and pillows were surprisingly comfortable, and the shower had great pressure and a clean tub. The showerhead was older, but it worked fine. It was also quiet on Friday and Saturday night. Weeknight rates were $80, and weekends were $90. We needed an affordable place, and we already knew about this hotel because my husband had stayed there one night before, after I kicked him out, and had no complaints. When we called late at night, the owner said he’d wait for us before turning in, which felt like good service. I’d come back any day.

The woman at the front desk was very nice, and the room was comfortable and easy on the budget. I stopped here to rest on my way south after visiting family about an hour away. It’s handy for gas and shopping, and if I’m back in Virginia, I’ll probably stay here again.

The location is convenient, with chain restaurants within walking distance and the Richmond Airport less than two miles away. I stayed here several times in 2013, and each visit was pleasant. The rooms were consistently clean and quiet, the beds comfortable, and the staff friendly and quick to respond. I’d recommend it to travelers watching their budget who also care about safety.
