Comfort Suites Richmond

Richmond worked well as a halfway stop between MI and GA. For under $100, this hotel was a great deal. We've paid twice as much at places that weren't nearly as nice. I was disappointed, though, to find the hot tub filled in.

After they moved me out of the room with the kitchen, I found there wasn't even a shower curtain in the replacement bathroom, so I had to go back downstairs and get one. That alone wasn't a huge deal, but it was a frustrating extra step after what had just happened. In the first room, I spotted a baby cockroach crawling in the bathroom as I was about to shower. I trapped it in a cup, took it to the front desk, and asked for another room. They did switch me, but without the kitchen. I haven't had a stay like this in ages. Very disappointing, and I wouldn't recommend the hotel.

I changed this to five stars so the owners' response wouldn't get buried among the one star reviews Google suppresses. The way they've responded has only reinforced my view that they're rude, inconsiderate, disrespectful, and disgusting, with an excuse for why they can't or won't treat people with basic decency. If you want to feel valued as a customer, try Home2 by Hilton or another Hilton hotel that listens to feedback. Go here only if you want the owner to tell you what's wrong with you and your companions, or to hear him disrespect staff who don't meet his standards and use his life as an excuse. L. O. L. Am I right? My friends have had problems here while staying with pets, despite the place claiming to be Pet Friendly. One friend says they were told the room they'd left was “bad,” with a different reason given on multiple stays. Another told me staff tried to enter their room before checkout. A friend with a cat was blamed for scratching a wall, although the cat had claw caps on. Someone else had two dogs wearing diapers and was still told they'd peed everywhere. I've stayed here too, and found one front desk woman downright rude. She commented on my mother and the way we left the room, even though we'd asked for a massive bag specifically to clean up after ourselves for the housekeepers. She also called STUPID EARLY despite a note on file saying we had a later checkout. Two staff members were really sweet, but that Ana or whoever was rude and a drama mama!

The young woman on duty was absolutely lovely, and the room looked nice and clean. Still, I wasn't happy paying $12 for 4 power aides, but oh well, it is what it is. There was no bathroom trash can, and the tub looked like it had seen better days. I'm 61 and disabled, and the bathroom flooring clearly wasn't thought through. Once it gets wet, it turns into a very slippery ice rink.
