For the price and location, I felt safe as a woman traveling alone, and the guests and staff were friendly and helpful. The other guests were polite, even holding the door while I tried to bring in all my luggage at once. There was a strong pot smell in the hall of my nonsmoking floor, though I don't blame the hotel for that. My room was spacious and clean, and worked for the couple of days I was there on a work trip. It had no kitchenware or extras, but there's a CVS across the parking lot if you need something. Plan to bring extra shampoo and soap, along with paper plates and utensils. It can get a little noisy depending on who's in the neighboring room. I was initially concerned by how many workers were coming and going, apparently because they work nearby and the location and price suit them.

The staff seem professional, and people staying here are cordial, usually greeting you with a hello or something fitting the time of day. The rooms, staff, and location have all been good, and even the one time the shower wasn't hot when I was ready, it warmed up later. That was a minor issue. I haven't stayed a full week yet, so I haven't cooked, though I plan to and want to get the full extended-stay experience. This place is convenient and, to me, amazing. I hope people appreciate it and that it doesn't become affordable for people bringing drama like some other hotels in the area. That would be disheartening, since it's well placed for people working nearby or anyone who needs better conditions for their particular situation. Also, for my Hispanic friends and family, the TV has channels for everyone.

As of 2026, I heard this Woodsprings Extended Stay by the RVA Airport is only a year old. It's easily one of the cleanest hotels or extended stays I've been in, with no bugs or roaches and no bad odors. The rooms are nice, and the staff are friendly and accommodating. LIDL is just across the parking lot and easy to walk to. Laundry service is available, and vending machine snacks are discounted. If you're in the P.R.I.E.S. recovery program here, your room is free. Guests also tend to be friendlier than at other extended stays I've used.

The check-in staff member was kind and efficient, but the place still felt bleak and unwelcoming. I arrived late to an empty-looking entry area with harsh hospital waiting-room lighting, a closed check-in window, and no sign saying whether anyone would come. Outside the doors were huge piles of black trash bags and men smoking who looked sketchy, so I hurried back in. Then I reached a smelly room with no toiletries, an uncomfortable bed, and walls so thin I heard yelling, conversations, and what sounded like someone above me loudly having sex. The room was grimy and smelled like a chain-smoking aunt's car, despite supposedly being nonsmoking. It had a fridge and microwave, but no basic toiletries and only flimsy, see-through toilet paper. A kitchenette came with no plates, cutlery, or even a regular glass. There was only a disposable plastic cup in the bathroom, meant for a toothbrush or drinking. Even the tap water tasted unpleasantly metallic. On paper, the property sounded fine. Once I checked in, though, I couldn't wait to leave. This was one of my more unpleasant stays, and I won't stay with this hotel brand again. I'd avoid it if you can.

This is an extended stay for section 7 housing, not a hotel. No in-room coffee would be enough for one star, and there was also very little soap and a cheap blanket. Then a fire alarm went off just as I fell asleep. Apparently that happens often, and seeing the people who came outside made the kind of place clear to me.
