Hyatt Place Richmond Airport

I found out the next morning, after calling the front desk, that there still wasn’t any hot water. I hadn’t been told at check-in, and there was no apology or compensation. If I’d known, I wouldn’t have stayed. I was here for one night at the end of December 2025, and the hot water was out for the entire stay. A broken boiler is one thing. Looking at earlier reviews now, it seems this may have been going on for months. Keeping guests uninformed about it is dishonest and unacceptable.

After a very late flight delay, this was a rough stay. Construction work triggered the fire alarm four times and woke us up each time. The shower water swung between freezing cold and boiling hot. Don’t stay here until construction at the property is finished in Spring 2026.

We couldn’t sleep because the odor was so strong, and my wife and daughter kept coughing and complaining about my choice of Hyatt. I asked a housekeeper I saw cleaning another open room whether the smell was on the whole floor. She said it affected only some rooms and was a problem they were trying to resolve. I was staying with my family at the Hyatt Place Richmond Airport on September 9, 2025. At check-in I was assigned room 403, which smelled horribly, like something dead and rotten was inside. I went straight to the front desk and said my family couldn’t sleep there. They said no other room was available, and that the manager would be in the morning for me to speak with. I went to speak with the manager first thing. He was initially helpful and offered a free additional night, since it was Sunday morning and rooms would be available. I explained I wasn’t on a trip and needed to get back to my hometown for work Monday. He then told me not to leave a bad review and said she would refund my money. I never got any refund, even after trying to contact the hotel. If you’re in Virginia, I strongly recommend you do not stay at the Hyatt Place Richmond Airport.

The room was clean and comfortable, and the views are always a highlight. We keep returning because it’s handy for Richmond Raceway, with fast food, nicer restaurants, big retailers, and pharmacies nearby. There’s usually a nice view from the room, too. Some staff are friendlier than others, which is disappointing. Our bathtub had a strange dirty mark near the bottom and a drain that didn’t work well. The shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel were only about a quarter full. It’s a decent option if location matters most, though better service and maintenance would improve it.
