The stay itself was pleasant. Staff were helpful and pleasant, the place was clean and roomy, and room 103 had a king bed with plenty of space to move around. The pool was amazing and breakfast was tasty. The first-floor ice machine, though, was extremely loud, like something crashing and being dragged right outside my door, which made it hard to sleep. I booked two nights on the Wyndham La Quinta website after joining the blue level rewards program. It showed a total of $260.95 including taxes. After checking out, I found a $310.95 charge and another for $177.71 on my bank statement. I’m guessing the first was meant to be the room charge, though it should have been $260.95. I have no idea what the $177.71 was for. I paid up front for anything from the little guest market so I could track spending and avoid surprises, didn’t charge anything to the room, and only used the pool, no special services. I called the hotel at 7:25am shortly after checkout and spoke with Ms. Kendall. She looked into it, agreed something seemed wrong, and said she’d contact her manager and call me right back. Five hours passed, so I called again at 12:22pm and got her again. This time she seemed not to know what I meant and asked for my contact information again. She said she’d speak to her manager and call in ten minutes, and apologized for the wait. It had already been over an hour since then when I wrote this. I know hotels get busy, but I’d expect an issue like this to be handled promptly, not so casually. I’ll contact the hotel again, and if I get no explanation or correction, I’ll reach out to corporate.
