BEWARE OF APARTMENT 12: I gave 30 days' notice yesterday because health problems have made me need to move. Dog urine from the previous tenant is still in the carpet and padding. Nitta's Carpet Cleaning has treated it at least five times, but the smell remains, especially in the downstairs bedroom. I spend most of my time upstairs burning candles, which may be why it's more noticeable downstairs. Rather than properly clean or replace the carpet and padding, the owners let me out of my contract. I had planned to stay through the end of the lease, but the urine is causing health issues and I can't. I wonder whether they'll fix the problem for the next tenant when they haven't done it for me. The smell was masked when I viewed the apartment, and my friend identified it a few days after I moved in. It's a huge inconvenience to move again so soon after coming all the way from the east coast. Most of my things are still boxed in the garage because I didn't want to unpack until the dog urine was gone. The noise from apartment 11 is another issue. They play TV and music loudly. Management says there's nothing they can do as long as it happens outside city ordinance hours. Most nights I can't wind down until about 10 PM, then I have to get up for work at 4:30 AM. It's inconsiderate. These are a couple of things to keep in mind if you're considering this apartment.
