Hampton Inn Ridgefield Park

My only real gripe was the noise at night. The parking is behind the building rather than in front, so the rooms facing the highway sit right beside it and get a lot of traffic sound. Aside from that, the hotel was great. The staff paid attention, and each room even had a decent office chair at the desk.

The room looked clean, though the bathroom was a bit dusty and the two toilet paper rolls were almost empty when we arrived. I had to ask housekeeping for more the next morning. Breakfast was just so-so, too. There was no meat, only scrambled eggs and a bagel topper as the hot options. Coffee ran out during breakfast and wasn't refilled. In fact, I only saw coffee at the station briefly during breakfast, not before, after, or once it ran out. The shower water was freezing even with the handle turned all the way to hot. My kids, my husband, and I all got through our baths as fast as we could and came out trembling. I booked despite the bad reviews because I've stayed at several Hampton Inns over the years without being disappointed. This location was a first, and hopefully a last. We were there to celebrate my son's birthday. A week before the stay, I called to check that the pool was available and was told it was. At check-in, we learned it wasn't working, and we only had one night, so we gave up hope that it would be fixed in time. I also gave them my Hilton Honors number, but the gentleman didn't offer the small gift bag or even water that I've usually received. Around 7 p.m. there was no coffee or hot water in the lobby, and the containers were still empty when I came back at 8:30 and 10. I asked the desk attendant for hot water; he filled the container, and a few minutes later I could make tea while the kids made hot chocolate. When I went down again at midnight there was still no coffee. I didn't want to bother anyone, since the dispensers had been empty for hours and hadn't been replenished. We were very disappointed, and I especially regret choosing this place for my son's birthday. Believe the negative comments.

Whenever I'm here for business or a bit of leisure, I enjoy the stay. Leslie, the general manager, and the rest of the staff make me feel welcome and appreciated every time. The rooms and hotel are clean and well maintained, the amenities are all there for guests, and staff are easy to reach if you need help. I'll keep choosing this Hampton Inn.

Mr. Gelin made us feel at home and worked with us to accommodate our special-needs son. Having a pool there was something we especially enjoyed. My stay was awesome, and we'll definitely come back next time we're traveling to NY.
