Stardust Motel Redding

My little family stayed here for about five weeks. The manager or owner and the staff were wonderful, friendly, and polite, and I felt safe with them around. They worked with my situation and requests, which made life easier, and were very accommodating. Thank you, Stardust. The place is full of cockroaches, though.

For the price it was worth it, and I would go back, though I might spend another $25 for somewhere better. The room was clean enough otherwise, but housekeeping had missed dried stains on the toilet, and the shower door wouldn't shut all the way. The bed was much too soft.

I packed up and left in the middle of the night. The room was so dirty and smelled bad that I felt sick. The walls were dirty, the curtains had yellow stains, and everything looked old and like it was falling apart. I've never had a worse motel stay. We paid $130, plus they wanted a $40 deposit, and I can't see how they justify charging that much. I don't think the place deserves even one star.

Vacationers looking for an affordable motel get no warning about what goes on here. Half the property is a halfway home and sober living, while the other half has regular patrons who seem mostly to be drug users or homeless people. People openly use drugs outside the front windows of those trying to recover, which seems like a setup for failure. Otherwise, very relaxing. Lock your doors, windows, and belongings, update your shots, and bring insecticide, hand sanitizer, gloves, a particulate mask, a plastic bed cover, earplugs, and a chastity belt.
