Extended Stay America Suites Albuquerque Rio Rancho

The full kitchen and extra room made this place a better deal for me than the hotel I used the night before, which cost twice as much. This isn't an Extended stay, just to be clear. The location is great, and the rooms are pretty good. The carpet is a little worn, but that wasn't a deal breaker. For the price, it has a lot of what you need, and this was my first stay here, but it definitely won't be my last. :-)

I won't stay here again or recommend it. I asked the day-shift manager about moving rooms, but they were booked, and nothing came of his offer to look into a refund or discount. My non-smoking room smelled strongly of old smoke and cigarette deodorizer, like the smoke had soaked into it. The lobby also smelled of marijuana when I came to check in. When I mentioned it, the manager said a previous guest had made it smell that way. The bathroom sink and shower drained very slowly, the shower faucet leaked after being turned off, the caulking around the tub seal was coming apart, and a roach crawled out. There was hair and shaving debris around the sink and faucet handle, too. I walked barefoot on the floor and my feet turned black. The room wasn't clean and shouldn't be advertised as smoke-free. Disappointing.

The staff here could have their own TV show. The rooms are really nice and the service is excellent. If you want a blueberry muffin in the morning, get up at six and book it. 12.5 stars.

The location was quiet, and the staff paid close attention to what guests needed. I asked for extra pillows and towels, and they were in my room while I was at work. Breakfast is Grab N Go, with muffins and coffee, which is handy when you're rushing out the door. Kudos.
