Super 8 Ripley

I was trying to reserve a stay for July 10, 2026, but accidentally booked the current date instead and only noticed the next morning when the checkout email came through. It was my mistake. Since the place is privately owned, I hoped I could explain it to a supervisor and maybe have the unused stay applied to the date I actually needed. The first person I spoke with wasn’t much help, but suggested calling back that evening to talk to Daniel in management. Daniel said it was beyond what they could handle and would be up to the GM. I asked for the GM’s contact details, but Daniel wouldn’t give them to me. He said he could talk with the GM and tell me their decision afterward. I told him that if they couldn’t offer more help, I had no interest in booking there in future, then hung up. I guess common decency is a thing of the past.

I checked in the evening of May 30th, and the gentleman at the desk was very rude and not accommodating. Later, I spoke with the person who replaced him, who said it was an ongoing issue. Good luck with that. The rooms are okay, and being right next to the interstate is handy. I won’t be back.

The bed was very comfortable, and the updated TV made it easy to watch talladega nights and Ace Ventura Pet detective. The room was adequate for a reasonably priced one- or two-night stop, with good shower pressure. But it smelled like wet dog when I arrived, and there was mold on the shower control where you turn the water from hot to cold. Having to reconnect to WiFi every 60 minutes was annoying too and pulled down my rating. I would’ve given five stars otherwise.

Three stink bugs were flying around the room or crawling on me. If I could get a refund and leave, I would. The beds were dirty and stained, there was hair on the pillows, and the bathroom floor tiles were loose. They advertise a great breakfast, but there isn’t even a breakfast area. For this kind of money, the place is about what you’d expect, but I’d rather pay the same and stay at the Travelodge down the street. Overall, a very poor place to stay when there’s a much better option nearby.
