Motel 6-Roanoke, TX - Northlake - Speedway GA

I never even entered the hotel. A change in the weather meant I had to cancel my Saturday reservation, which I did through Booking.com two full days ahead. The cancellation was free, and I got an immediate confirmation. Then on Sunday morning I saw a charge for a stay I never had. When I called, the front desk told me it wasn't their problem and to contact Booking.com. I would've been happy to send proof of the cancellation and have the hotel sort out what seemed like a simple mistake. Instead, I got a rude response and no accountability. Booking.com acknowledged that the error was on their end and was ready to refund me. Because of the way the hotel staff treated me, though, I'm going straight to my bank for a chargeback. This could have been resolved with a quick refund and a little courtesy. I was charged before I ever set foot in the building, and they've lost me as a customer. One star, earned.

The smoke hits you outside and gets stronger the farther into the building you go. The lobby, vending area, and hall looked like they hadn't been cleaned. My bathroom had mold, rust, dirty walls, a stained doorway, and dirty towels. The bed felt more like a cot, with stained bedding as rough as sandpaper. The wall thermostat didn't work, and the window unit was so broken I couldn't read its controls. Maybe fine if you want the cheapest place and don't care about yourself, but I'd stay somewhere else.

Housekeeping was really friendly, the room was clean, and the location is handy for Texas Speedway and the Outlets. The price wasn't bad, but I won't come back. The front desk was rude, and management showed no empathy toward people with mobility issues. There was no microwave in the room, and the roll-in shower flooded the whole bathroom and part of the room.

The room was tidy and clean, and the cleaning staff were nice. But there was no microwave, and the fridge sat on the floor. The TV was old and had no Wi-Fi, and there wasn't any breakfast. The people at the help desk were rude and could use some improvement.
