Fairfield Inn & Suites Rochester West/Greece

After nearly 30 years of using Marriott hotels for work and vacations, I find the refurbished Towne Place Suites are actually better than Residence Inns. This room was reasonably comfortable and clean, but the kitchen shelves had no plates. The very nice person at the front desk had to get some for me.

I booked four rooms and check-in went smoothly. The keys and doors gave us some trouble, so we had to replace the keys a few times, but the issue was sorted out quickly. Breakfast had a good range, and the staff worked hard to keep the trays filled.

When my flight was unexpectedly canceled and I was stuck in Rochester, the staff found a way to fit me in even though the hotel was full. Everyone I met was welcoming and professional, and they made a stressful situation feel manageable. Misty, the front desk manager on duty, deserves a special thank you for her support. My room was clean, modern, and comfortable, so I could relax and get things done. I’m very grateful for the kindness and flexibility.

The breakfast was okay, and the hotel itself was nice and reasonably clean if you aren't checking every detail. But two things made me uneasy. There was a blood stain on the duvet, and someone knocked then opened our door within about five seconds, even though the “all set” sign was up. It was likely staff because they had access. We weren't fully dressed, and luckily we'd locked the door from inside. If we hadn't been there, it wouldn't have been secured, so I wouldn't feel comfortable leaving our things unattended.
