Holiday Inn Express Rochester - Greece

The one real plus was being close to several good places to eat. But returning late could make you regret coming back to finish your stay, given how the front desk guy made my fiancée feel. He very obviously checked her out. That made her feel unsafe, and I don't think someone who treats female guests that way should be at the front desk. Shoddy rooms I can overlook; if you're a woman traveling alone or with a partner, I'd consider staying elsewhere. The room had a nice appearance, but it felt like the looks were covering up bigger problems in an older building. Paint from the ceiling was falling onto one of the beds, the AC/Heat unit seal was shot and let wind gust in that I could hear and feel, and water leaked from several parts of the shower piping. I know the hotel needs to make a profit, but not at the cost of guest comfort.

The hallway was noisy, but I couldn't hear it in my room. The hotel has clean, working laundry machines, and the bathroom has a regular locking door rather than a sliding one. It's a bit small, with the sink outside. Breakfast was tasty, with pork and turkey sausage rounds and, only occasionally, bacon. They have a pancake maker instead of a waffle iron. The posted breakfast time was confusing: the displays suggested 6:30, but it starts at 6 on weekdays and 7 on weekends. We asked the front desk for more toilet paper, but the supplier had been delayed. They offered us an Angel Soft tissue box instead, and it worked surprisingly well in the situation. The associates were kind and helpful.

This hotel is a mess. A short female manager working around 9 AM today was really rude and cursed out a guest in front of me. The late-night guy at the desk is very unprofessional, and many people have reported that he made women uncomfortable.

The room was cramped, and there was barely room to move in the bathroom. The AC wasn't working, but the front desk's response was basically that nothing could be done. They gave me the manager's email, as if they didn't understand we'd booked a room to be comfortable. Eventually someone came up and said the AC only works when it's hot outside, regardless of how warm the room is. He said he'd call maintenance, but it was almost 10 and I had to leave very early. They did offer a fan. I've never had this kind of experience at the other Holiday Inn locations I've stayed at.
