The suite was much more spacious than a standard room and very clean, with nice amenities. The fridge was so iced over that we couldn't use it and it needed defrosting. Breakfast was typical continental fare, though having two waffle machines was a nice touch. The coffee dispenser made very weak coffee, so I'd try tea instead. Check-in and checkout were easy. We left a bag behind, and they checked the room and held it until we could pick it up. One of the nicer Microtels we've stayed in.

The grounds are beautiful and the place looks new, but it struggles to fit its guests comfortably. Everything feels small, including a breakfast room meant for maybe 15 or 20 people at a time. The continental breakfast is extremely meager: no eggs or sausage, everything cold, and only one microwave for heating food. Nothing is served hot, which was very disappointing. The savings come with a lot of inconvenience, since you may end up going elsewhere to eat anyway. I wish I'd booked somewhere that worked better for our family of four. The “eco-friendly” lights are annoying, too. If someone leaves the room with their card, the system shuts off the lights for everyone still inside. I've never been someone who needs pampering, but that was frustrating. An Alaskan fishing guide once told me that great food can make even a trip with horrible weather into a great one. The Microtel could win guests over with the best continental breakfast they've ever had, even when the room and service disappoint.

The maintenance man was easily the best part of the stay. He came quickly to fix the broken curtain rod in our second room, cracked jokes, and was fantastic, though the strange goo on the sheer curtain stayed there. The beds were well made, the room was otherwise clean except for a bottle cap in the shower, the water pressure was solid, and I got to watch Oceans 12 on the TV. We chose this hotel for its location while in town for a wedding. We had booked the night of October 10th, then called to say we'd arrive after 12pm, past the posted check-in time, and to ask about staying through the morning of October 12th. The concierge said not to worry about arranging the extra night by phone and that we could do it when we arrived. But our first room wasn't available the next night, so we had to move the following morning into a more expensive room. The staff were helpful, but clearer communication between them could have prevented that. People were friendly, though not always professional. At 9am, the front desk woman was wearing pajama pants while setting up the lobby. Breakfast was a letdown: eggs, scrambled or hard-boiled, were cold in a plastic bag inside a mini fridge, so I had to heat them on a paper plate in a microwave that hadn't been cleaned before service. For $225 a night, I would've expected them to reheat the precooked eggs. The other choices were bagels, granola bars, vanilla yogurt, or the archaic self-serve waffle maker, which was the best food available. The location was great for my wife and me to visit family, and we'd planned to use this hotel again. But the stay was poor overall, and I was disappointed.

The staff were friendly and attentive, and the lobby and breakfast areas were clean. My room was small but clean as well. The breakfast was disappointing, and the coffee was greasy. The building could use some cosmetic updating, but the area felt safe and is near plenty of restaurants and stores. For the price, I'd stay again.

I was moving back home from Arkansas this past week, and the check-in online went smoothly. Because I have trouble walking due to a disability, the gentleman who gave me my key went above and beyond by lending me one of their desk chairs so I could get to my room comfortably. The room was clean, the beds were very comfortable, and there was no smoke smell or burn marks anywhere. I liked this hotel's coffee much better than the very strong coffee at the one in Sunbury, Ohio. I recommend this location.
