Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Rochester North Mayo Clinic

For our four-night stay while my husband was getting treatment at Mayo, the price was very reasonable. The room, though, was the smallest I've ever stayed in and wasn't very clean. The bathroom floor hadn't even been swept. They advertised a fitness center, but it had only an elliptical, a bike, and two treadmills, both out of order. So there really wasn't a fitness center. I'd spend a little more for a nicer hotel, or at least know what you're getting into.

We used this as an alternative to staying in a kid's bedroom while visiting family, and it was a much better choice than a motel for the same price. It made me realize how much wasted space a regular hotel room has for an average two-person stay. There were some charming details and, for that price range, I didn't feel short on amenities. Great value.

It's a quiet, comfortable place to rest after a long day, and the location is great. The staff are very nice and accommodating, the rooms are clean and comfy, and management is great as well. They offer a shuttle to Mayo Clinic and do what they can to make you comfortable. Breakfast is good. I'll always stay here when I visit Rochester.

I spent about five minutes in the room before feeling disgusted and deciding I couldn't stay. Brown stains were on the mattresses, there was a yellow mark on the sheets, and the window seat had stains in several colors. The shower head had so much hard water buildup and grime that its color had changed. The receptionist was rude at check-in and confronted me about why I needed a room. When I explained the condition of it, all I got was “I'm sorry.” There was no offer of another room or a discount. Nearly two days later, they still hadn't confirmed my cancellation. I'm willing to pay the $67 fee just to be done with it. I found much better accommodation elsewhere and definitely won't return.
