Wyndham Rochester Downtown

After checkout on 2/15, I found a $110 valet charge on my bill, even though we never used valet. I called the hotel and was promised a callback, but had to ring again five hours later to get help. Parking had been a problem throughout the stay. The first night, we were charged $20 to exit the garage after getting food because nobody explained how to avoid the fee. The next day it tried charging $45; when I pressed the call button, the attendant opened the gate and hung up without explaining anything. After driving more than seven hours to the Wyndham Atlanta Buckhead Hotel & Conference Center, we were exhausted, and the arrival experience didn’t help. We chose self-parking, but valet sent us straight to the garage instead of letting us unload briefly at the entrance, with no assistance or courtesy. Check-in was poor too. We got a key with no directions and spent about ten minutes finding the room. From start to finish, the lack of service and communication, along with the wrong charges, made this a frustrating and unacceptable stay.

I was there for a big gathering this weekend, 3/6/26-3/8/26, with well over 500 people, and it was a complete mess. They barely had any staff, and half of the few who were there quit on 3/6. Save yourself time and don’t go. If I could give it -5 stars, I would. Horrible.

The elevators were broken, so we had to use creepy service elevators, and the front doors were kept locked because there are homeless people in the area. The building was only 58 degrees and had no heat. Staff said they’d just turned it on and it would take a while, but the next morning they said someone had lied to me and the whole building had no heat because they wait until later in the month to turn it on. They’d said they’d move us to another room that afternoon, then told me there were no rooms. There were no extra blankets, and while some guests got space heaters, we didn’t. My wife had to sleep in her coat. I’ve stayed in over 100 hotels, and this was by far the worst. Many guests were unhappy that night. I can’t believe Wyndam or Priceline would list this place. Stay away.

The room smelled of cigarettes and felt unpleasant, though at least the sheets seemed clean. The only staff member I found nice was the desk attendant who checked me in; everyone else seemed unfriendly and indifferent. They swore loudly, played music from their phones, and acted unprofessionally. The whole place was shabby and dingy, almost like a ghost town. The elevator was out, so guests had to make their way through a creepy maze of back offices to reach a dirty service elevator. There were no other vacancies nearby, so I took a chance on the lower price and regret it. Avoid this place.
