2nd Street Inn & Suites

Being close to St Mary’s was the one plus. The room was dirty, the linens had big stains, and we had no clean towels. Some of the electricity wasn’t working, including the bathroom lights. Front desk staff weren’t wearing masks or following Covid guidelines, and management was neither helpful nor kind. As a patient, I felt my health and safety were at risk here. I’m now paying only a few dollars more per night down the road, where I feel safe and have clean towels.

The morning desk clerk and the housekeeping staff during the week were amazing. Everyone was helpful, respectful, and understanding, and they made this one of our best hotel stays. I’d checked out after my husband was admitted to Mayo Clinic, but he was released that same day. After just an hour of sleep, I couldn’t manage the drive home, so I came back to ask about a room for the night. They found us one and put us on the second floor, knowing my husband had trouble with stairs.

The staff were really friendly, but that was the only good part. The room smelled awful and was disgusting. The window was broken, the microwave was putrid, and I was scared to open the kitchen cupboards. The extra blankets in the closet looked like they’d never been washed, and I didn’t know what might be in them. The building’s main door wouldn’t latch, so anyone could walk in. The TV didn’t work, and the cable box, or whatever it was, was hanging off it. Don’t go there!

We stayed here about 20 days in total across three trips while my dad was at Mayo clinic and St Mary's hospital. The last visit was 10 days straight. This isn’t a top-of-the-line hotel, but the price is super reasonable for what’s around. The staff were awesome and really helpful. When Dad was discharged, they moved us to a suite for the last few days at no extra charge, which was a lifesaver. Shout out to Tammy, she’s awesome! I’m 100% glad we picked this hotel.
