The flowers around the grounds are beautiful, from the potted plants to the landscaped beds. The place is clean and quaint, and the beds were very comfortable. Staff were helpful when we asked about the area, and it's close to places to eat and a short drive from attractions. I'd happily stay again.

We stayed at the Sunset Motel for our first two nights during a weeklong tour of the upper peninsula in September 2025, traveling from South Carolina. It was the best place we stayed all week, and a whole lot less expensive. The room was extremely nice and clean, the flowers were fantastic, and the Horns were great hosts. What a lovely tribute and memorial, and the flowers are amazing, like something from HGTV. The owner was friendly and helpful from the start, and we felt welcome in this cozy, clean motel. Our room was fully updated, with a comfortable bed and thoughtful conveniences, including plenty of places to hang belongings and lots of spots to charge devices. The restaurant is right on site, though we didn't eat there, and the ferry docks are only a short drive away. Thanks for going above and beyond!

The gardens are gorgeous, and the owners clearly put a lot of care into keeping them in such good shape. It's affordable, clean, and updated. This motel has a lot going for it, and I'd highly recommend staying here. I'd definitely return! 🌺 🌼 🌹

I spend a lot of time traveling and staying in hotels, and this was the coziest one I've ever been to. It made me feel at home. The people running it are great and really friendly. The room was super clean, and I liked the wood paneling instead of painted walls.
