Quality Inn Rochester South

I was here a few nights over a couple of weeks for work. The staff were friendly, the rooms were surprisingly good and clean, and the TV service was DirecTV. The bed was very comfortable. Good experience overall, and I’d stay again.

At $100 a night, they could use new beds. I also noticed the area behind the beds needed a much better vacuum when I looked for bed bugs, though luckily I didn’t find any. There was a strong cleaning-agent smell, and I don’t know what it was. I’ve heard Rochester has just two choices, this one and Super 8, which I’ve heard is worse, though a new one is supposed to be coming soon.

We were so appalled that we asked for a refund after the event we attended, but the front desk attendant denied it, saying his computer showed we’d booked through a third-party site. That wasn’t true: I’d called the hotel and booked over the phone. A hotel worker we hadn’t called also walked into our room without knocking. We won’t be back. The room was filthy, and I don’t believe it had been cleaned before we used it. There was mold in the shower corners, crumbs all over the floor, and grime on every surface that my wife could wipe off with a sanitizing wipe. Human and pet hair was everywhere on the sheets and blankets, and the bed linens hadn’t been changed.

The front desk service was rude and unprofessional from the start. Instead of making us feel welcome, the staff treated us like an inconvenience. What shocked and disgusted us most was a front desk employee making an extremely inappropriate, body-shaming remark to one of our friends, calling them “obese.”
