The staff made this stay. The front desk ladies, the maintenance gentleman, and everyone working in the restaurant were genuinely kind and clearly cared about our experience. Our room was quite warm the first night, and they were very accommodating in making sure we were comfortable. We visited friends in town and stayed several days during the off-season. There was live music in the evening, but our room remained very quiet, and things wrapped up early enough that sleep wasn’t a problem. The beds could be more comfortable, but we’ll definitely return when we’re back in town. Maybe next time we’ll catch a show at the Garage.

Anthony and Herman, the brothers who own this place, take real pride in the building, the service, and their staff. Everyone was happy, capable, and a joy to be around. I spent 4 days here over Thanksgiving and felt right at home. It was about 30 outside and warm as toast indoors. What a delightful restoration of an amazing structure with great AMERICAN HISTORY. My sister lives in Rochester now, so I’ll be back!

Just writing about tonight’s restaurant service. I’ve never had service this bad there before, and they clearly need more help. We waited half an hour for drinks, another half hour before the waitress returned to take our order, then 45 minutes for starters. They forgot my wife’s salad, and the steak was overcooked.

The service was friendly, but the rooms were below par. There was practically nothing in the room, not even a cup, and the continental breakfast was so disappointing that I skipped it and went elsewhere. The shower handle was absolutely filthy, and it could be replaced for $10. The beds were extremely uncomfortable, which is the bare minimum I’d expect a hotel to get right. If you can’t sleep well, nothing else matters. I won’t be back.

From 9/17/25 to 9/22/25, I had an amazing stay. The room was spacious and beautiful, and the food at Spaulding Steak and Ale was delicious. Everyone working at both places was very friendly.
