Holiday Inn Rock Springs by IHG

We had a glitch, and the owner called personally to apologize. Housekeeping was very good, and the hotel has recently been remodeled. It’s a nice, affordable place just off the freeway. There’s a Chicago Pizza attached, but call them for room service instead of ordering online. I learned the hard way that online delivery goes through Uber, takes twice as long, and costs twice as much. I watched the driver pick up the food, walk out, sit in his car for ten minutes, then come back inside. The Chicago Pizza manager was great and refunded the $13.00 delivery fee in person.

The food was good, and the servers were friendly. Old Chicago is connected to the hotel, and the hotel staff were polite and pleasant too. Unfortunately, our room smelled really bad. They were full, so they couldn’t move us.

Both rooms had strong, unpleasant odors. The first smelled like dog or pet urine and literally made my eyes and nose burn. The second had a stale cigarette smell. Rooms like these shouldn’t be used until they’ve been properly cleaned, and people who leave them in this condition should be held accountable.

The bathroom was the worst part of our stay. There was stuff on the walls and hair on the tub walls and floor, plus a lot of dust in the room. When I used the hairdryer on its highest setting, it smelled horrible, and the odor took a while to clear. The rest of the room was okay, but the bathroom clearly hadn’t been cleaned properly. We also had to wait about 30 minutes for our key cards to start working. Before that, we’d arrived at 1 am and gone to a different hotel with a very similar name, the Holiday Inn Express, because this hotel’s location wasn’t convenient to identify. Our room was on the third floor, which was only partly finished because of renovation. I’d avoid this hotel, especially if you plan to shower.
