Beach Stay Motel

The extra charges were a real surprise. For our four-day stay, the listed rate was 163.00 a night, which I thought was well worth it, but the email showed more than 225.00 in added fees and taxes. That included an 85.00 cleaning fee and a 65.00 booking fee. I expect some fees and taxes, but this felt way above normal, and the costs weren't advertised. They should disclose the full amount upfront or raise the nightly rate. The unit itself was clean and well kept, with two bedrooms, a bath, a kitchen, and a small living area. It had dishes, pots, pans, and other supplies for a few days.

We weren't happy with Rockaway as a town. Finding food was hard, and the gas station style food we did find didn't give us much choice. We won't visit Rockaway again, though we'd use the vacation house in other places. The place itself was clean, and the beds in the bedroom were comfortable. The living room seating was a squeeze for four people.

I won't come back after what happened with the owner. She charged me over $200 for damage we hadn't caused, and I'd pointed the damage out before we even checked into the room. She said our “cat” had done it, though we don't have a cat. After sending several emails, I called to ask why we were being charged. She yelled at me and said she couldn't do anything because she'd already taken our money. Take lots of pictures of the rooms before your stay so you aren't blamed for damage you didn't cause. It's a shame, because we really enjoyed the hotel otherwise. It felt homey and was in a perfect spot next to the beach.

A charming, homey place near some very nice parks and beaches. I was worn out from traveling and just needed a decent place for the night that wasn't exorbitantly priced. It cost less than most places, though I guess the Oregon Coast gets expensive in July. There was a bedroom, a full kitchen, and a TV and living room area. It was a pleasant surprise.
