We’d stayed here before because of the location and had a good first visit. This time, the customer service and location were still great, but finding two cockroaches in our room made the stay unpleasant and left us questioning how clean the whole room was.
We were promised a beach-view room, but people kept walking right past our window. The room smelled like dog poop, the rug smelled so bad we had to shove it under the bed, and we left the window open just to breathe. The curtains stunk too. It was supposed to be non-smoking, but the bed cover had cigarette burns. The room was trapezoid-shaped, with an uneven floor, and the little porch corner barely fit one small plastic chair, though we’d been told it could hold at least two. There was no one in the office to complain to. We picked up the key, went to eat, and were gone about 45 minutes, but the office had closed before 8-9:00. We returned in the morning to complain and found it didn’t open until 9:00. We wrote a letter and never got a reply. A nightmare. The place next door is newer and cleaner, and I wish we’d known about it when we made the reservation. Do not stay here.
I’ve been coming here over the last 45 years, and I think it’s a great value. You can walk straight out the beachfront door onto the sand, which few places offer. They also have pet-friendly rooms.
The view was amazing, and we had a lot of fun on the beach, but several things made the stay difficult. The location is nice, though getting to the beach means crossing sand soaked with pet urine that had changed color and smelled. Around the room, the carpet outside the door smelled so awful I had to hold my breath to avoid feeling sick. I wasn’t the only one who noticed. The tub couldn’t really be used for a bath, and its poor drainage left a couple inches of water and sand behind, making it slippery. The TV was quirky and didn’t work well unless everyone else was still asleep. There was a small mini fridge with a cooler section but no freezer, and neither part held much. They provided coffee and a pot, but no filters, so you had to buy them. We were told we couldn’t get more towels unless we exchanged the ones we had. Two towels weren’t enough for two adults and two kids, so I was glad I’d packed extras. Food nearby was really expensive. I spent $75 at the grocery store for two meals, dinner and lunch, plus two snacks. My friend paid $50 at a restaurant for a small amount of noodles and four miniature corn dogs with fries. It wasn’t terrible, but those things bothered me.
The best part was stepping straight out toward the beach and enjoying the view. It’s also close to a great grocery store and the main strip. The motel is older but nicely maintained, and our room was clean and felt completely safe. We’d definitely stay here again!
